NEW DELHI: The equity markets on Wednesday opened positive a day after it snapped a five-session losing streak.
30-share BSE Sensex soared more than 300 points in pre-opening trading and looked like regaining the 37,000-mark. The gauge however settled to a 100-point lead in early trading. At 9.28 am, the index was up 80 points and above 36,700-mark.
The broader 50-share NSE Nifty too was gaining almost quarter a per cent and was solid above the 11,000-mark.
On global front, Asian shares inched up on Wednesday, as Chinese stocks extended their recovery to hit eight-week highs on receding fears about the trade war as well as hopes China’s weighting in the global benchmark will be increased.
Apart from Nifty IT, all the sectoral sub-indices were in the green with Nifty Pharma leading the way.
