Counting of votes in Pakistan's General Elections is underway and Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is leading on 74 parliamentary seats while its main rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is ahead on 54 seats in the initial round. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of former president Asif Ali Zardari is leading on 27 seats, a sign indicating that he could play a 'kingmaker' in case of a hung parliament, according to media reports. Independents are leading on 23 seats according to trends available for 209 seats out of 272 seats. The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) - an alliance of traditional religious parties such as Jamaat-e-Islami led by Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan led by Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani and Tehreek-e-Jafaria led by Allama Sajid Naqvi - is leading on 11 seats. Pakistan's National Assembly comprises a total of 342 members, of which 272 are directly elected whereas the rest - 60 seats reserved for women and 10 for religious minorities - are selected later through proportional representation among parties with more than five per cent of the vote. A party can only form the government if it manages to clinch 172 seats in total. The nation voted on Wednesday in a knife-edge general election that has been plagued by allegations the powerful armed forces have been trying to tilt the race in Khan's favour after falling out with the outgoing ruling party of Sharif, who was jailed on corruption charges this month. Even as Pakistan came out to vote on Wednesday, several attacks marred the elections. A suicide bomber killed at least 29 people near a polling centre in Quetta.

Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's security has been stepped up and additional forces deployed around his house as his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party continues to emerge as the single largest party in the initial trends in the parliamentary elections.
IMRAN KHAN WINS | PTI chief Imran Khan wins from Karachi East, reports Samaa TV. Khan is contesting five seats and he has won one and is leading in four others.
Former PM Abbasi Trailing | Former Pakistani prime minister and PML-N veteran Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, is trailing on the second spot with 4,677 votes in NA-57 (Rawalpindi-I). PTI’s Sadaqat Abbasi is leading with 6,394 votes, unofficial reports on counting suggest.
PTI ahead in Nawaz Sharif's stronghold Punjab province with 59 leads. PML(N) is leading in 45 seats.

PTI going strong in Punjab province with 48 leads. PML(N) is leading in 40 seats.
Govt of Pakistan tweets: Election Results will be transmitted through the fastest and modern system. According to the Election Commission, Results Transmission System (RTS) is linked to 80,000 polling stations across the country.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari leading with 5,218 votes in 18 NA-200 (Larkana I). MMA's Rashid Mehmood Soomro trailing with 2,671 votes.

Why Transgenders of Pak Couldn't Vote | Hundreds of transgenders in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa missed the opportunity of casting their vote in the general election today as they were wrongly identified as "male" in the national identity cards. According to the 2017 census, the total number of transgenders in Pakistan is around 10,418. "The national identity cards with category of X has been issued only to 127 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," said Qamar Naseem, a transgender rights activist and programe coordinator of Blue Veins, a nonprofit organisation in the province working for the empowerment of the transgender community. Majority of those 127 transgenders have their votes registered in their place of birth which they avoid to visit.
IMRAN KHAN LEADS | Imran Khan is leading on all the five seats he is contesting from.
Muttahida Majlis–e–Amal (MMA) is leading in 11 seats. MMA is a political alliance consisting of conservative, Islamist, religious, and far-right parties of Pakistan.
Unofficial results from 41 NA-249 (Karachi West-II) polling stations show PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif leading with 4,230 votes. PTI's Faisal Vawda trails with 3,011 votes.
Fehmida Mirza of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) is leading in NA-230 (Badin II) with 3,068 votes, unofficial results show. Mirza, a former National Assembly speaker, was a prominent PPP leader. She and her husband and former home minister, Zulfiqar Mirza, left the party disillusioned with what they termed the ‘corruption mafia’ of PPP.
PP-250 (Bahawalpur-VI): PML-N's Saad Masood 1,501 votes. PML's Muhammad Afzal trails with 1,366 votes.
PP-230 (Vehari): PML-N’s Khalid Mehmood leading with 182 votes. PTI’s Khalid Zubair Nisar trails with 23 votes.
