India vs West Indies: Jason Holder slams West Indies batsmen's flop show | Cricket News

HYDERABAD: The Windies have fallen on such bad times that a collapse looks imminent when they are batting. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was witness to one such dismal show. India had batted into an extended first session for a first innings lead of 56 runs and Windies were shot out for 127 in 46.1 overs - inside two sessions on Sunday.

Windies skipper Jason Holder was not amused. "There are times that you got to put your foot down and let people know exactly they are not pulling their weight," he said after India coasted to a 10-wicket win. "At the end of the day you got to get deeper into it, understanding why the collapses keep happening. It's not a matter of guys having technical deficiencies. It's just the processes at a particular stage may not be the best one. Especially our younger players really need to understand that patience is the name of the game."

Lack of partnerships clearly told on the Windies. "In cricket you got to build an innings, the greatest of players will always tell you build an innings. It's not an arena where you can come and beat the ball around and blast. It's more or less a situation where you are coming up against class bowling. It's something we really need to understand little bit more. We are very disappointed. We got to look ourselves in the mirror and see exactly how we can rectify the problem as soon as possible. We are headed to Bangladesh after this and Bangladesh will hit us with a lot of spinners. The wickets will probably spin a lot more than these spun in the last two Test matches. We can't fault the pitches, we just got play smart and better cricket," Holder said.

Umesh Yadav's brilliant effort was not lost on the Windies skipper. Is it difficult to digest the fact that a fast bowler engineered the collapse? "Honestly it's hard to take it. Trying to understand the reasons why it's happening. It's a case where we all need to put our heads together, the management, selectors and the players. The onus must be on the players and we must be responsible for our actions."

Holder, who missed the first Test in Rajkot due to injury, and had a five-for, counted the positives. "We didn't play our best cricket. India is the No.1 team in the world and we expected to be pushed by them. We all saw some positive performance from Roston Chase. I thought Sherman was awesome. We still have some good youngsters."
